Rational Radical

I was going to post this Toronto Sun story before (I do check the site for local news…)–please see the COMMENTS section below.  But in brief, the story alleges that a mother had spent 18 months pleading with everybody and anybody she could think of for help. She also made 163 trips to the principal’s office to report bullying incidents, and called the SCHOOL TRUSTEE 18 times, to no avail.  Others are now making similar complaints and some have said they saw this woman’s 8 year-old daughter get bullied, including being beat-up by five boys.  In the follow-up story, the trustee is basically blaming the GIRL and her mother.

As an interesting twist, the girl is white, while most of the other kids at school are black.  Reverse discrimination?  She was frequently called a “dirty white girl.” Can you imagine what would happen if she were black and the white kids were calling her a “dirty black girl” or “little nigger”?  The school staff and trustees would be rightfully mortified.  And you can bet that every city councillor would want to jump to her rescue to show how great and all-inclusive they are.  But no one is saying anything, other than the readers who are disgusted at the school/trustee/school board’s lack of action.

Now, it’s possible that the girl is a bit of a menace and her mother may be a pain in the ass.  We don’t know yet.  That’s what the trustee is claiming.  However, my instinct tells me that, even though the mother is probably difficult, it really boils down to apathetic/pathetic/disgusting idiots failing in their roles as tax-paid professionals, adults, or HUMANS.

Not too radical, but I’m sending out my best wishes to a contributor and friend, who suffered a great loss recently.

Take your pick.  Let’s do a quick round-up:

1) Today, a TTC bus driver refuses to give a 67 year-old passenger a transfer because he forgot to ask for it right away.  He did ask en route but was denied.  He had to walk home instead of transferring buses.  What do you think will happen to the asshole driver?  Nothing of course.

2) McGuinty FINALLY admitted that he lied–okay, he didn’t use that word, but he DID lie–when he conceded that the new HST will cost Ontarians hundreds of dollars per year, with some of us probably getting dinged for thousands.  The idiot keeps promising that somehow businesses will pass on the savings to consumers years later.  When has THAT ever happened?

3) An UNELECTED senator tells women’s groups to “Shut the fuck up” over abortion.  Wuzza??

4) McGuinty continues to refuse to allow the UFC (or any type of MMA organization) to hold shows in Ontario, allowing Montreal and Vancouver to make tens of millions of dollars instead.  Meanwhile, he allows boxing to happen at Casino Niagara…douche…

5) Nearly two years ago, a commission recommended compensation for victims of the incompetence or pure malice of evil “doctor” Charles Smith–the monster pathologist whose sloppy “work” caused dozens of people to be falsely accused of the most horrific crimes possible; some of them ended up in jail for years and also lost their other children.  They have yet to receive anything.

6) Labour Minister Lisa Raitt, about whom I’ve often written, is refusing to testify in the Rahim Jaffer/Helena Geurgis scandal.  Given her narcissistic sense of entitlement, total lack of compassion, very poor judgment, and incompetence, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was somehow involved in all of this.  But despite her years of sucking off all of our tax dollars for lining her private pockets, this scumbag has never been held accountable!

7) Toronto Councilor Howard Moscoe, one of THE MOST entitled councillors of them all, refuses to give up all of the perks he gets. I understand the point that some councillors are making, but in this guy’s case, it’s pure narcissism/entitlement, guaranteed.

This is just a random sampling of what happens when people in Toronto/Ontario/Canada are given just a wee bit of “power.”  Yet no one is willing to make them accountable for their abuses of their positions.  Makes me disgusted…Sorry Caroline...
